Fall in Tennessee can be one of the most beautiful scenes you have ever seen! As the hardwood trees start preparing for winter, the color changing of the leaves is quite stunning.
If you’ve ever been fortunate enough to travel on the Blue Ridge Parkway during peek fall, you’ve seen one of our favorite falls drives. AND if you haven’t, I add to the list so you remember to take this scenic drive.
Fall Bucket List
Grab your family and this fall bucket list for some serious memory making.
Rake the Leaves
Rake up a big pile of leaves with your kids and let them jump in over & over again.
Visit an Apple Orchard
Plan a visit to one of the many u-pick apple farms in the area. What’s better than fresh apples!
Make an Apple Pie
Use those freshly picked apples to make an apple pie… or apple butter, caramel apples, cider, and every other yummy apple treat.
Take a Hike
Visit a new State Park or new trail that will lead you through the ever changing forest of colorful leaves.
Attend a Fall Festival
There are so many great, family friendly fall festivals to choose from! The Erwin Apple Festival is always a big hit.
Order Pumpkin Flavored Food
While pumpkin spice lattes are pretty good, the pumpkin cake doughnuts are where it’s at. Order your favorite pumpkin food and enjoy it!
Get Lost in a Corn Maze
Pick an afternoon to try your luck at getting out the a corn maze together. Here are our favorite local corn mazes.
Craft a Fall Wreath
Grab a blank grape vine wreath and let the family decorate it together.
Pop Homemade Popcorn
There’s nothing better than fresh, air popped popcorn! Use an air popper then top it with your favorite butter or seasonings.
Watch a Movie
Grab a big bowl of that freshly popped popcorn and put on your family’s favorite fall themed movie.
Visit a Pumpkin Patch
Pick your own pumpkins off the vine at a local pumpkin patch. Most have corn mazes too!
Decorate Pumpkins
Crave them, paint them, stack them, draw on them. Bring out the craft supplies and see who’s pumpkin is voted the family favorite.
Roast a Pumpkin
And it’s seeds. Those pumpkins you picked aren’t just for decor, they are great roasted to make your favorite pumpkin recipes.
Go on a Hay Ride
Hay rides are the best way to tour farms. Check to see if your local apple orchard or pumpkin patch offer them.
Build a Fire
Spend the late afternoon collecting sticks, twigs, and logs to build a fire with that evening.

On a really cool night, warm a large batch of apple cider to sip by the fire. Homemade or store bought, it’s all delicious.

Evenings by the fire wouldn’t be complete without roasting some marshmallows for s’mores. Pro mom tip – use mini halloween candy instead of chocolate bars.
Snuggle Under the Covers
Grab those littles and let them cozy up to you on those lazy Saturday mornings. The chilly weather makes you want to hug them extra tight.
Cook Comfort Food
Chili, soup, warm buttery rolls… you name it, it’s time to cook up some comfort food for fall. Let the kids help, too.
Take a Drive
Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, stopping to take in the breathtaking views at the overlooks.

Or Thanksgiving! Gather your family and friends together to celebrate the taste of fall while spending time with one another.

Prep some picnic food aka kid friendly charcuterie snacks, grab a blanket and go enjoy a cotton candy colored sunset.

Write down everything your family is thankful for and post it somewhere public like the fridge. keep it as a reminder throughout the year to count every blessing.
